Unexplained wetness is common late in pregnancy and it is important to know if you have leaked amniotic fluid, rather than urine, because you should contact your midwife or doctor right away.The Amniosense test can also identify whether you may have a vaginal infection which can be harmful to the baby if left untreated before delivery.

The manufacturer recommends its use after 36 weeks of pregnancy to identify rupture of membranes (breaking waters), as well as in high risk pregnancies and after amniocentesis
