Environmental Policy
Access Diagnostics' commitment to a sustainable future
At Access Diagnostics, we are committed to protecting the environment by minimising our impact on it. We recognise the importance of sustainable practices and are continuously seeking ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
Our environmental policy is based on the following 5 core principles:
- Compliance with environmental legislation. We comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations to ensure that our operations are carried out in a responsible and sustainable manner.
- Reduction of waste. We are committed to reducing waste in all our operations. We minimize the use of paper by using electronic communication and storing documents digitally. We also recycle as much waste as possible, including paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals.
- Energy efficiency. We strive to reduce our energy consumption and use renewable energy sources where possible. We encourage our staff to switch off electrical appliances when not in use and to use energy-efficient lighting.
- Sustainable transport. We employ locally and encourage our staff to use walk, bicycles or car-sharing schemes to get to work where possible to reduce our carbon footprint. We also aim to minimise the use of company vehicles and, where necessary, use low-emission or electric vehicles.
- Continuous improvement. We are committed to continuous improvement in our environmental performance. We regularly review our practices and procedures to identify areas where we can reduce our impact on the environment.
Access Diagnostics' current efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote environmental consciousness
Access Diagnostics is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting environmental responsibility. To achieve this, we have implemented sustainable practices that prioritize eco-friendly modes of transportation, encourage local employment, and promote remote working.
Local employment: By employing locally, Access Diagnostics is minimizing the need for long-distance commuting, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation, such as fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Additionally, it supports the local economy and helps to build a strong and sustainable community.
Cycling or walking to work: We encourage staff to use eco-friendly modes of transportation, such as cycling or walking to work. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with commuting and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for our employees.
Remote working for marketing and finance team: To reduce the carbon footprint associated with office-based work, we have implemented remote working for our marketing and finance team. This reduces the need for commuting and the energy consumption associated with office buildings, such as heating and cooling systems.
Transitioning to sustainable transportation: Access Diagnostics is taking steps to transition to more sustainable modes of transportation. We have added one fully electric car and one hybrid car to our fleet, with the goal of having all company vehicles fully electric by 2025. We are also achieving this goal by purchasing electricity from a green energy supplier, Smartest Energy.
Energy saving practices and the use of green energy: In addition to purchasing green energy from a green energy supplier, Access Diagnostics is implementing energy-efficient practices and technologies to reduce energy consumption. These efforts include investing in energy-efficient equipment, implementing measures like LED lighting and smart heating, and conducting regular energy audits to identify areas for improvement.
By prioritizing sustainability and implementing these eco-friendly practices, Access Diagnostics is taking meaningful steps to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmental responsibility. These efforts help pave the way for a more sustainable future for our planet and future generations.
Access Diagnostics' sustainable supply chain: reducing airfreight and consolidating production orders
As part of our commitment to sustainability, Access Diagnostics is implementing eco-friendly practices across its supply chain. To achieve this goal, the company is reducing the amount of airfreight it uses and consolidating production orders into a single sea freight container.
Airfreight is a highly carbon-intensive mode of transportation, contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. By reducing its airfreight usage, Access Diagnostics is minimising its carbon footprint and helping to mitigate the negative impact on the environment.
Our plans for a greener future
At Access Diagnostics, we prioritise environmental responsibility as a crucial aspect of our business operations, and we are committed to safeguarding the environment for future generations. Our dedication to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint is a fundamental component of our mission. In pursuit of this, we have established a sustainability strategy that outlines our objectives and targets.
One of the key objectives of our sustainability strategy is to decrease our company's carbon footprint. To achieve this, we intend to investigate innovative techniques for reducing energy consumption and transitioning to renewable energy sources. This involves investing in energy-efficient technologies, renewable energy initiatives, and exploring low-carbon transportation alternatives.
Our commitment to sustainability surpasses the transition to a fully electric vehicle fleet and the investment in modern, purpose-built facilities with a solar roof and electric battery storage. Our ultimate objective is to produce and store all the energy we consume over a 12-month period, and export any surplus energy to the grid.
To attain this objective, we aim to continue investing in renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and geothermal energy. We will deploy solar panels and invest in energy storage technologies like batteries to enable us to generate and store our own energy on-site.
Generating and storing all our energy will enable us to substantially reduce our dependence on grid-supplied electricity, encourage sustainable energy practices, and contribute to the transition to renewable energy, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In summary, our ambition to generate and store all our energy over a 12-month period and export any surplus energy to the grid demonstrates our steadfast commitment to promoting sustainability and decreasing our carbon footprint. By investing in renewable energy sources and energy storage technologies, we are facilitating the creation of a more sustainable future.
Moreover, we aspire to broaden our range of sustainable products and services, assisting customers in reducing their carbon footprint and promoting sustainability. This includes sourcing sustainable materials, implementing sustainable practices throughout our supply chain, and advocating for sustainable packaging and waste management practices.
Another significant focus area for us is promoting circularity and reducing waste. We plan to invest in circular business models that reduce waste and promote the reuse and recycling of materials. This includes exploring new packaging solutions, implementing sustainable waste management practices, and working with suppliers to minimize waste across the supply chain.
Finally, we intend to engage with stakeholders and collaborate with industry partners to promote sustainability across the drug testing industry. This includes reducing packaging where possible, extending the life cycle of products, providing clear recycling instructions to customers, and creating innovative new products that help reduce our carbon footprint. We will work with customers to promote sustainable practices, collaborate with suppliers to implement sustainable solutions, and engage with policymakers to promote sustainable policies and regulations.
